It Was Kyle Williams’ Fault. (Read first.)

Let me first say, Kyle Williams is one of the many reasons we were in the playoffs. He was responsible for some regular season wins. I’m a fan of him, and I want him re-signed because he still is one of our dependable weapons.
Now back to the title. It was his fault we lost yesterday. (By the way, I’m at peace with it.)
If you know 49er football, at least 2011/12 49er football, you know that the 49ers win games by playing amazing defense, efficient offense, and mistake free football.
- Defense yesterday, WAY better than you can expect!
- Offense, got two touchdowns, 0/zero/no turnovers.
- Kyle Williams on special teams: 1 botch lost, 1 fumble lost
The 49ers had an amazing season & have an amazing future. That would still be true, if we had won.
Analyze the game through and through. It all ends up being Kyle Williams’ fault. He was responsible for 10 points on the scoreboard. Those scores were at crucial times of the game.
Let’s hear some arguments why it isn’t his fault:
- The 49ers offense was 1-13 on 3rd down.
- So? What’s your point? The 49ers offense gave up 0 interceptions and lost 0 fumbles. Alex Smith was never supposed to win us the game, but he did his best throwing us 2 TDs and turning over the ball 0 times. Do you know that the New York Giants forced almost 2 turnovers a game this season? As far as I’m concerned, the offense did their job, which isn’t much, but was enough.
- The 49ers only had 1 completion to a wide receiver
- Get open. GET OPEN! Vernon did. Even Delanie did. This is a good Giants defense. No turnovers, two touchdowns. Oh yeah, Aaron Rodgers threw an INT last week
- Vernon Davis caused two 15 yard penalties
- Both those penalties did not lead to the Giants scoring any points.
I’m trying to find another reason why the 49ers lost, but it all leads back to Kyle Williams. He even admits it here. Trust me, I want to take the burden off the poor dude, but there’s just nothing else.
Kyle Williams and his teammates are dealing with it perfectly. Williams has already conducted a couple of interviews, teammates have stood by his side saying… “Please dont send @KyleWilliams_10 no death treats WE LOVE U BRO!!!”, “@KyleWilliams_10 hold your head high bro. You had an amazing season. I’m proud to be your teammate.”, “@KyleWilliams_10 keep ur head up. U r my brother n teammate N I would put u back there all over again. We all lost this game tonight not u.”
It’s true. They all lost the game last night, but it was still Kyle’s fault. The most important part is that he’s handling the critiques like a champ. He owned up to it. Everyone makes mistakes, the game’s over. He’ll probably come back strong. Roger Craig had a heart breaking fumble before, but he sealed a legacy.
One more thing. Don’t listen to the media blowing up these death threats. They’re mostly jokes! One reads… “Jim Harbaugh, please give @KyleWilliams_10 the game ball. And make sure it explodes when he gets in his car.” Some others were pretty crucial, but remember the mask of the internet makes people a little braver. Patrick Willis said it best, “[Fans are] saying that because they’re hurting,” As fans, we hurt. Our emotions come out.
Kyle Williams makes more than $400,000/year. Unfortunately, the glitz and glamour of being an NFL player has a price… dealing with us foul mouth, stupid fans that wishes a mythological exploding football would be given to him. The day all fans are professional will be the most boring day on earth.
I digress, it was all Kyle Williams’ fault. Lol.
Reply with your arguments for why it wasn’t his fault. Why?
